SUSTAERO Chief Executive Officer Keith Gillard facilitated the Canadian Clean Economy Alliance (CanCEA) Summit yesterday at the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) in Toronto. Organized and led by Gavin Pitchford, Executive Director of Canada’s Clean50 and CEO of Delta Management Group, the summit convened leaders from across the sustainable energy ecosystem to collaborate on the public policy frameworks required to accelerate Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy.

The summit focused on the development of a resilient 21st Century industrial strategy designed to surge Canada’s competitive leadership. Participants explored how strategic investment and forward-looking policy can ensure Canada’s economic sovereignty while fostering widespread prosperity through a model of local demand supported by local supply.

"Canada has the opportunity to take the global lead in sustainability right now," says Gillard. "Proactive policy will provide prosperity for all Canadians by treating cleantech as a primary driver of national growth, affordability, and security. By aligning our industrial strategy with our natural resource advantages, we can create a sovereign energy future that is both resilient and self-sustaining."

Gillard led discussions on the critical role of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and other bio-based fuels in securing Canada’s energy independence. The dialogue emphasised that a robust domestic supply chain is not only an environmental necessity but a cornerstone of national sovereignty.

"Cleantech drives growth, affordability, security, and sovereignty," added Gillard. "The collaboration led by Gavin Pitchford and the CanCEA team this week demonstrates that when we bring the entire ecosystem together, we can move past incremental change and toward a true industrial transformation."
