SUSTAERO is pleased to announce it has been awarded a grant through the Advanced Manufacturing Engineers Upskilling Program (AME-UP). This strategic funding, delivered by Foresight Canada and powered by Upskill Canada, will support the expansion of SUSTAERO’s technical team as the company prepares for the 2026 launch of its first regional production node.

The AME-UP programme is designed to connect high-growth cleantech companies with top-tier Canadian engineering talent. By securing this grant, SUSTAERO will integrate specialised expertise in chemical and mechanical engineering to further optimise the SOAR™ (Syngas Optimisation for Aviation Renewables) platform.

"Winning the AME-UP grant is a vital milestone in our workforce development strategy," says Keith Gillard, CEO of SUSTAERO. "As we move through our FEL engineering studies, access to highly skilled engineers who understand the complexities of advanced manufacturing is essential. This programme allows us to scale our internal capabilities while providing meaningful opportunities for Canadian talent to lead the global transition to sustainable aviation."

The AME-UP grant follows a series of major wins for SUSTAERO in late 2025, including its selection for the Foresight 50 and its presence at the AFCC in Washington, D.C. The funding will be utilised to support Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) projects focused on the technical rigour of the SOAR™ process, particularly in the areas of carbon conversion efficiency and green hydrogen integration.

"Our goal is to build a domestic centre of excellence for Sustainable Aviation Fuel," added Gillard. "The support from the AME-UP program ensures that our engineering studies are backed by a workforce that is as innovative and resilient as the technology itself."

About AME-UP: The Advanced Manufacturing Engineers Upskilling Program (AME-UP) is a career accelerator that connects technical talent with the Canadian cleantech sector. Funded by Upskill Canada and delivered by Foresight Canada, the program helps high-potential firms scale by providing access to skilled engineers and wage-subsidy support for industrial projects.
